Gear Upgrade Guide
Push your weapons and armor from +1 to +10 at Grimbolt the Enhancer, found in both Stormwind and Orgrimmar. A pure gold sink — no shop, no Nova Coins, just gold and nerve.

How it works
Talk to Grimbolt the Enhancer and buy Upgrade Elixirs (100g each) from his vendor window. Then open his upgrade menu, pick an equipped weapon or armor piece, and choose a target level. Grimbolt burns one elixir per attempt, once every 3 seconds, until you hit your target, run out of elixirs, or cancel — you can stop at any time.
What's upgradeable
Any equipped weapon, and any armor piece with an armor value (including cloaks and shields). Rings, trinkets, necklaces, shirts and tabards can't be upgraded — they don't carry armor or damage to boost. Each level adds a flat +10 damage to weapons or +100 armor to armor pieces, so a +10 weapon hits 100 extra damage and a +10 armor piece carries 1,000 extra armor. Upgrading permanently binds the item to you.
| Target Level | Success Chance (per attempt) |
|---|---|
| +1 | 100% (guaranteed) |
| +2 | 90% |
| +3 | 80% |
| +4 | 70% |
| +5 | 60% |
| +6 | 50% |
| +7 | 40% |
| +8 | 30% |
| +9 | 20% |
| +10 | 10% |
Any failed attempt sends the item back down to +0 — gold and elixirs spent along the way are gone for good. The one exception: past +5 with an active Protection Elixir, a failure only drops you back to +5 instead.
Upgrade Glows
Every level from +1 to +10 adds a distinct weapon glow, growing more intense the higher you push.

Protection Elixirs
Buy a Protection Elixir (1,000g) and apply it to an item once it's reached +5. The next time that item fails, it drops only to +5 instead of all the way to +0 — and the protection is consumed. Succeed instead, and the protection carries over untouched to insure your next attempt. Grimbolt's menu has an Auto-Protection toggle (on by default) that keeps a protection active for you automatically once you're at +5 or above, so you don't lose progress to a moment of inattention.
